Hands-Free Practice: Control Subdivide with Bluetooth Devices
Wed Dec 31 2025

Your rehearsals just got more seamless
We understand the challenges of controlling your metronome during rehearsal—especially when your hands are busy with your instrument or when your phone is out of reach. Today’s update introduces two powerful improvements that make Subdivide even more practical to control.
Hands-free playback with Bluetooth devices
You can now control Subdivide’s metronome and track playback using most Bluetooth page turners and keyboards. This means you can:
- Start and stop without reaching for your phone during rehearsals
- Keep your focus on your instrument while maintaining tempo control
- Use your existing Bluetooth accessories that you already have for sheet music
Whether you’re at a music stand or running rehearsal you can now control your practice tools. Just connect your Bluetooth device, and you’re ready to go—no additional setup required.
Enhanced shortcut functionality
The “Toggle met” shortcut has received a significant upgrade. It now works even when your device’s screen is off and locked. This seemingly small improvement opens up powerful new workflows:
Action Button integration
If you have an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, assign the “Toggle met” shortcut to your Action Button for instant metronome control. One press starts the metronome, another press stops it—all without unlocking your phone.
Accessibility shortcuts
You can also assign the shortcut to accessibility features like Back Tap or AssistiveTouch, giving you multiple ways to control playback that work with your practice setup.
Why these updates matter
These improvements reflect our commitment to making Subdivide work the way musicians actually practice. You shouldn’t have to interrupt your flow to interact with your metronome. With hands-free Bluetooth control and enhanced shortcuts, Subdivide adapts to your practice environment—not the other way around.
