ChatGPT App Privacy Policy

Effective: October 8, 2026

Tap Five, LLC (“Tap Five”, “we”, “us”) makes the Subdivide app for ChatGPT (the “ChatGPT app”), which builds metronomes and click tracks inside ChatGPT. This policy covers what the ChatGPT app handles. Share links are covered by our main Privacy Policy. Questions: privacy@tapfive.dev.

TL;DR

• No accounts. We don’t collect your name, email address or payment details.
• We never see your conversation.
• An open app is kept until 6 hours after it was last used, so ChatGPT can change it for you.
• A click track is shared only when you open it in Subdivide.
• We don’t sell your data or use it for ads or AI training.

1. What we receive

Your messages go to OpenAI, not to us; OpenAI’s privacy policy covers your conversation. When ChatGPT uses the ChatGPT app, it sends our server what to build: tempos, time signatures, subdivisions, accents, bar counts, and the names of the track and its parts.

ChatGPT also sends a pseudonymous user ID and conversation ID, which don’t tell us who you are. We keep only one-way hashes of them, for usage analytics and logs, and to limit how many click tracks one user can open in Subdivide per hour. It may also send your language, approximate location and device type, which we don’t use or keep.

2. What we keep

• Open apps. So ChatGPT can change a metronome or click track you have open, our server keeps its metronome and click track, including their names, under a random ID. It’s deleted 6 hours after it was last used, or sooner.
• Click tracks you open in Subdivide. Opening one uploads it to our share service, where it’s handled like any shared track under our main Privacy Policy, and deleted 30 days after its link was created or last opened. A metronome opens from a link that contains its settings, so nothing is saved for it.
• On your device. The app keeps your last metronome settings, recent click tracks and count-off choices in the storage ChatGPT provides. They reach us only as part of an open app.

3. What the app shares with ChatGPT

The app tells ChatGPT what it shows, including track names and the open app’s ID, so ChatGPT can talk about it and change it. This becomes part of your conversation, under OpenAI’s privacy policy.

4. Analytics and logs

• Usage analytics. Our server sends OpenPanel (EU) an event when ChatGPT connects to the app or uses one of its tools: the tool used, whether it succeeded, how long it took, and the hashed IDs. Events never contain what you made or your IP address.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider, Railway (US), keeps request details and error messages for 30 days. They don’t contain the contents of your metronomes and tracks.
• Your IP address. Requests from ChatGPT come from OpenAI’s servers. A few come from your device, such as ChatGPT’s own “Open in Subdivide” button, and Railway’s request logs record their IP address.

5. Who else handles it

OpenAI runs ChatGPT under its own privacy policy. Railway (US) hosts our server, and OpenPanel (EU) processes our analytics. We don’t sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.

6. How long we keep it

• Open apps: 6 hours after last use.
• Per-user link limits: one hour.
• Click tracks opened in Subdivide: 30 days after the link was created or last opened.
• Server logs: 30 days.
• Usage analytics: while we operate the ChatGPT app.

7. Your rights

We don’t know who you are, so we can find your data only by a share link or an open app’s ID. To access or delete it, or to object to how we use it, email privacy@tapfive.dev. To stop the ChatGPT app receiving anything, disconnect it in ChatGPT.

If you’re in the EEA, UK or Switzerland: we build what ChatGPT asks for and share click tracks you open in Subdivide to provide the service you use (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)), and we keep logs, limits and analytics for our legitimate interest in running the app reliably and seeing how it’s used (Article 6(1)(f)). You can also complain to your data protection authority. Section 14 of our main Privacy Policy has more on your rights, including in California.

8. Children

The ChatGPT app is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child’s information reached us, email us and we’ll delete what we can find.
